Energy efficient house plans can save you money on your energy bills, and it all starts with energy efficient house design. So how do you know which blueprints are eco friendly house plans? Many of the energy efficient home plans in this collection have been designed to mitigate their environmental impact, and some of them could even be considered net zero house plans (if they’re built with certain features, such as solar panels, that allow them to generate their own energy). Several things to consider when building green living house plans: simple footprints, smaller square footage, the potential for passive solar gain, sustainable materials, and minimizing construction waste with efficient building techniques.
An earth duct is a buried ventilation duct. The idea behind burying ventilation ducts — the ducts conveying fresh outdoor air to a building — is that the soil surrounding the ducts will warm the ventilation air during the winter and cool the ventilation air during the summer.
Donowitz Contractors can install these with every ecohome we build and when used in conjuntion with MVHR units your operating costs are vastly reduced.
